Thato Bonokoane “Captain Charisma”

Net Nine Nine is proud to announce the continuation of its relationship with local Kagiso influencer, world champion boxer, Thato Bonokoane. The two parties came into partnership in 2022 when the young man approached the company for a sponsorship for his boxing career to succeed.

The year of 2023 has proved to be a good year for the young man and Net Nine Nine is pleased to be walking this journey with him further. The company has brought him on board with a new and more exciting contract which bears many more fruits. Thato gets to keep his career sponsorship and an exciting role of being a social media influencer for the company in Kagiso.

Get to know more about Captain Charisma

Thato Lesego Bonokoane, widely known in boxing circles as Captain Charisma, grew up in the streets of Kagiso 2 in Krugersdorp, a township where he spent his childhood playing football with his younger brother Lerato.  He is the eldest son of Mr. Amos Bonokoane and the late Matshidiso Priscilla Bonokoane, who he fondly remembers and honours.

Thato’s introduction to boxing came during his mischievous youth when he and his friends visited a local boxing gym run by the experienced trainer Thabiso Koetle. This encounter sparked Thato’s interest in the sport, and he had his first taste of boxing at the age of 12 or 13.

Although his initial focus remained on football, which held his primary passion, Thato couldn’t ignore the growing fascination and allure of boxing. He spent three years as an amateur boxer before transitioning to the professional ranks in 2013.
