The 67 minutes for Mandela Day initiative is a global call to action to encourages people to dedicate 67 minutes of their time (one minute for every year Nelson Mandela spent fighting for social justice and human rights) — to serve their local communities.

In honour of Nelson Mandela’s legacy, as a company Net Nine Nine employees dedicated their 67 minutes of their time to service their communities across the country through the following corperate social investment initiatives:

• Ga-Rankuwa (Gauteng) – Staff spent Mandela Day at the Ga-Rankuwa Sunshine Hospice, donating blankets and cleaning materials. Employees also rolled up their sleeves to clean windows and mop floors, creating a cleaner and more welcoming environment for patients and caregivers.

• Hammanskraal (Gauteng) – In partnership with the Binang Foundation, Net Nine Nine visited the Odirile Centre in Temba, where an assortment of essential items, including blankets, was donated. Employees also washed clothing for the orphanage’s children.

• Hebron (North West) – Working alongside the North West Department of Social Development and the North West Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Net Nine Nine spent the day at the Lethabong Care Centre in Itsoseng Section. The elderly participated in sporting activities before enjoying warm bowls of soup served by volunteers.

• Krugersdorp (Gauteng) – The Kagiso Region adopted Hoërskool Jan de Klerk through a R10,000 school adoption programme aimed at improving the school environment, inspiring learners and recognising academic excellence.

• Thaba Nchu (Free State) – Employees participated in several community initiatives where sport formed the centrepiece of the celebrations. Net Nine Nine supported the DJ Zondi Charity Drive and the Jungle Bells initiative, where toys were donated to children.

• Witbank (Mpumalanga) – The Delpark Old Age Group received boiling water urns and warm blankets to help keep residents comfortable during the winter season.

• Musina (Limpopo) – The Musina Children Resource Center received kiddies’ chairs, kiddies’ tables, foldable tables, adult chairs, plates and cutlery, helping to improve the centre’s facilities for children and caregivers.

• Empangeni (KwaZulu-Natal) – Net Nine Nine engaged with Grade 12 learners at schools connected to its fibre network. Employees assisted learners with their NSFAS applications, equipping them with the information and support needed to access higher education opportunities.
