NET99 SAYS: MOSADI – KE NAKO!

The Unshakable Pillars of strength gather to Rock the Botshabelo!

In a country that often demands resilience, adaptability, and unwavering strength, there are women (mosadi) who rise above the rest – Imbokodo, as they’re known in South Africa – not with noise or spectacle, but with quiet power and consistent presence.

These women are the hard grinding stone – rocks – who carry any family or company.

One wouldn’t be wrong comparing hardworking women to the foundational forces behind thriving families and successful companies.

Their contributions, though sometimes invisible, shape the future of those around them with extraordinary grace.

Consider the late Winnie Madikizela Mandela, a woman politician whose life story exemplified what it meant to be the cornerstone of both home and world politics.

Better known as the “Mother of the Nation” for her resilience, an anti-apartheid activist, wife, served as member of parliament from 1994 to 2003, and from 2009 until her death on 2 April 2018, aged 81, was Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture from 1994 to 1996.

She imparted her knowledge and durability by mentoring young professionals and inspiring other women.

Net Nine Nine will launch the MOSADI ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT program ahead of the fibre internet company’s pre-launch of the Botshabelo and Thaba-Nchu store launches.

The pre-launch events, titled: Net99 Ere-Mosadi Ke Nako! will be held between late May and June, from 10am to 13h30, at the Lenyora La Thuto Secondary School in Botshabelo Section H on Friday, 30 May 2025 with a panel of experts in discussion and guest speakers.

The event will be coordinated by Net Nine Nine’s Events Department at Botshabelo.

The objective would be to educate and create need for fibre internet in each home, create appetite for starting up your own business, how to register and understand how to run your own business.

This event, which will be attended by different officials from many business sectors ready to assist, would help propel women (mosadi) in getting to know each other’s businesses and ways in which to support one another.

“Net99 believes in giving opportunities and transforming lives of our communities, and with this event, lives will be changed. This is a tool to achieve business excellence (sales). While we pre-launch our fibre to the community, we will also give our local women entrepreneurs a chance to engage with each other. The entrepreneurs will share their different journeys, and how to attain growth. We will spend an hour visiting each stall, and learning more about each other’s products,” said Zoleka Mashiane.

There will be a Q&A session for business-related challenges.

Relevant different government departments will be present to assist on how to register your business.

By night, a mosadi is the steady hand that keeps her family grounded – navigating the chaos of teenage dramas, aging parents, and daily logistics with a calm, and commanding grace.

This kind of strength doesn’t come from titles or accolades, it comes from deep emotional intelligence, tireless commitment, and the often-undervalued skill of knowing when to lead and when to support.

Mosadi, you are a rock!

HERE IS HOW NET NINE NINE MOSADI STAFFERS NAVIGATE THROUGH THEIR DAILY LIVES!

Leshaan Campbell, says:

“Balancing work and family can be challenging at times, but I’ve learned to manage my time well. I stay organised, set boundaries when needed, and make sure that when I’m with my family, I’m fully present. It’s all about quality over quantity.

About family: I cope by staying organised and planning ahead. I set clear priorities, communicate openly at work and at home, and make sure to carve out dedicated family time. It’s all about staying present and making every moment count.

Future plans:I plan to set clearer boundaries, use better time management tools, and stay intentional about separating work and family time. It’s all about being present and making every moment count.

About empowerment at work:Yes, absolutely. Net99 gives me the support, trust, and opportunities to grow in my role. I feel valued, heard, and encouraged to take initiative, which really motivates me to do my best.

Role at Net99:I’m the Personal Assistant to the CXO, and my role is all about keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. On a typical day, I help manage my boss’s schedule, support ongoing projects, and make sure deadlines are being met. I also work closely with our regional managers to ensure they have all the collateral and support they need – whether that’s presentation materials, updates, or coordination for campaigns. It’s a dynamic role that requires strong organisation, communication, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities, which I really enjoy. I love being the go-to person who helps things come together efficiently and effectively.

About being in the telecoms industry as a woman doing more technical work:It feels empowering. I enjoy breaking stereotypes and showing that women can thrive in any role. It’s rewarding to contribute meaningfully in a fast-paced industry and hopefully inspire others to do the same.”

Prudence Molefe, says:

“As challenging as it is, I always find a way – especially because this is something I studied and have a strong passion for. It does come with sacrifices, but it works for me.

About being empowered: “Yes, I do—especially as a woman in a male-dominated industry. Net99 gave me the opportunity to prove myself and to lead in the role I am in today.

Balancing work with family life:My older son is currently in the military, which makes things easier for me and allows me more time for my personal life.

Role at Net99:I am the NOC (Network Operations Centre) Manager.

Woman doing more technical work:It is certainly a challenge, but also very rewarding. I’m constantly learning new things every day.

Does it compromise your quality time:Yes, it does. Managing and resolving technical issues across the entire network can be demanding and time-consuming.”

Buhle Nonqandela, says:

About your position:As a Billing Manager at Net Nine Nine, my day-to-day is managing a team of 15 billing coordinators, ensuring they serve clients with professionalism and present solutions to clients. It is mainly to oversee the complex systems that we use to bill clients and access information to resolve queries. The position demands technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and a customer-focused approach due to the high volume and variety of billing data.

Woman in the telecoms field: “Feels both empowering and challenging. It is a fast-paced environment. However, the ever-evolving nature of telecoms in the past decade is still exciting, and solving real-world connectivity issues, and working with cutting-edge technology is deeply fulfilling.

Your quality time with family: “As a family oriented woman, it can feel isolating. However, this also opens up an opportunity to lead by example and become a role model, or mentor to not only colleagues, and teammates, but to my family and friends. Support systems matter. Having flexible work policies, understanding managers, and shared responsibilities at home makes a big difference.

How do you cope: “My role can be quite demanding, especially around month-end closings, reaching targets, and meeting tight reporting deadlines. To manage the balance between work and family, I rely heavily on strong planning and time management. I prioritise my tasks, ensuring that I use my working hours efficiently, so I can leave work and be fully present for my family when I’m home.

I’m fortunate to have a solid support system, both professionally and personally. My team knows how to collaborate effectively, and at home, I have family members who step in when needed. Ultimately, I believe in quality over quantity.

Your future plans:  “Continue to build a strong, reliable team that can function independently and share responsibilities during high-pressure periods. I also plan to make better use of technology and automation to streamline billing processes and reduce manual workload. Additionally, I’m exploring flexible work arrangements where possible – such as remote work or adjusted hours during less demanding periods.

Do you feel empowered: “Working for Net99 feels like you doing community work by empowering all people and really get the sense of doing good. I’ve been given opportunities to grow – whether it’s through participating in cross-functional projects, receiving feedback and mentorship, or being encouraged to implement new ideas.”
