Fibre in Garankuwa & Hammanskraal

Net Nine Nine in Ga-Rankuwa and Hammanskraal is shifting gears from adagio to allegro, all in the name of service delivery to its clients. Having launched its first store in Ga-Rankuwa in 2022 and in Hammanskraal a year later, the internet service provider has become the community’s favourite due to its reliable and stable connection, unlimited data, and lack of installation fees or lock-in contracts.

Demand for Net Nine Nine’s fibre access has been spreading across townships as community members explore the benefits of an unlimited internet connection. Net Nine Nine has long been known for connecting densely populated communities to provide as many people as possible with fibre internet.

Ga-Rankuwa and Hammanskraal were largely overlooked by other internet service providers and fibre network operators, who often focus on leafy, suburban areas. Net Nine Nine, committed to helping South African communities bridge the digital divide, is making strides to improve lives in these townships by offering residents the freedom to access new opportunities through fibre internet

Communities partner with Net Nine Nine

Many community organisations in Ga-Rankuwa and Hammanskraal have partnered with Net Nine Nine, including Zondi Patrol, Community Policing Forums (CPF), the Ga-Rankuwa United Taxi Association (GUTA), and others who have pledged to protect the company’s interests. Net Nine Nine has established strong relationships with law enforcement agencies, including the SAPS (South African Police Service), many of whose members already have their homes connected by the service provider.

Fibre internet offers high-speed connections at prices often up to 90% cheaper than older LTE/mobile data options. Net Nine Nine has now connected over 26,000 homes across these two townships, and the network continues to grow. If you live in Hammanskraal or Ga-Rankuwa and aren’t yet connected, it likely won’t be long before you are.

Competitors are also beginning to notice the demand in these townships, which the executives at Net Nine Nine welcome, stating that healthy competition will help more South Africans gain access to opportunity, a goal close to the company’s heart.

Unplanned outages explained!

Unfortunately, like any other network provider, Net Nine Nine isn’t immune to network outages, which can result from accidental damage by construction equipment, municipal machinery, or motor vehicle accidents. Damage can also occur when illegal electricity connectors, known as izinyokanyoka, mistakenly interfere with fibre infrastructure, hoping to connect to power but finding the fibre infrastructure is passively powered.

As community members adopt fibre into their daily lives, they value staying connected and often report issues to Net Nine Nine’s maintenance teams, enabling swift repairs. The company remains committed to its promise of restoring service within a 72-hour time-frame, a commitment upheld since its inception.

Clients Enjoy Pre-Paid Unlimited Data

In Hammanskraal, with its over 25,000 residents, Net Nine Nine launched its first store on 20 June this year and rolled out a Prepaid Pilot. The Pilot allows residents to connect to fibre for as little as R99 for one week, R189 for 14 days, and R379 for a month of unlimited data. The prepaid model doesn’t require a contract or automatic billing, giving clients control over when they connect.

Initially, residents only had access to a 20/20 Mbps package, but Net Nine Nine has since added 50/50 Mbps and 100/100 Mbps packages for higher-demand clients at R499 and R699, respectively. Especially important for households needing to connect multiple devices, Net Nine Nine’s prepaid fibre offers a flexible and affordable options.

Mofokeng: Our communities trust us!

Ronald “Ronny” Mofokeng, Ga-Rankuwa and Hammanskraal Regional Manager attributes their success to the strong relationships they have built with clients and community leaders. “We don’t see ourselves as just running a business here; we’re fostering family-like relationships.

We ask our communities to be our eyes and ears and report suspicious activity around our infrastructure to the police. Do not approach these potentially dangerous criminals but rather alert the authorities,” he advised.

“All our staff are hired locally, and we’ve created opportunities for local businesses and SMMEs to work as suppliers and partners. From store coordinators to sales teams and technicians, we employ local talent to ensure that the benefits Net Nine Nine brings to the town are shared within the community, delivered by friendly and familiar faces.”

Aligned with our clients

“In Hammanskraal, we recognised the need to align services with other areas across our eight provinces. The introduction of additional packages stems from requests from local leaders for faster speeds. It’s a pleasure to have such support from local leaders, and we hope to foster more partnerships with community organisations we have yet to reach,” Mofokeng added.

“Our community social investment (CSI) initiatives focus on impactful projects that improve the lives of residents. Often these take the form of donations, partnerships, or educational initiatives.

Through these CSI projects, our internet services, and local employment, Net Nine Nine is dedicated to changing lives for the better.”
