MORE DEMAND THAN EVER BEFORE!

Zululand District Municipality Executive Mayor, Michael Khumalo, flanked by his local municipal leaders from Abaqulusi, Nongoma, Ulundi, uPhongolo and Dumbe, has passionately requested for Net Nine Nine fibre internet to be rolled out in all areas across his reach.

His sentiments were echoed by Sifiso Eric Mkhwanazi, Abaqulusi Municipality Mayor, who also raved and spoke highly of the internet connector, saying the telecommunications has already turned lives around by employing locals who have been frustrated at home.

START OF GREAT THINGS!

Khumalo, who bankrolled the annual Zululand Mayoral Cup held at the Cecil Emmett Sports Complex on Utrecht Street, Vryheid until late at night on Saturday, 12 October 2024 due to the number of sporting codes that participated on the day, said Net Nine Nine’s involvement could be the beginning of great things to come.

He promised to support this telecoms company to achieve its goal of having every household, and all institutions connected with internet in order not to be behind any further with the 21st century technological advancements.

His word carries a lot of weight considering the power that he possess within the Zululand District Municipality, a Category C municipality situated in the north-eastern part of KwaZulu-Natal.

Vryheid Mayors are excited to be connected to Net Nine Nine Nine and wants more areas to be connected.

BIGGEST DISTRICT IN ZULULAND!

According to information supplied by the municipality, it is the biggest district in the province, making up 16% of its geographical area.

Vryheid and Ulundi are two urban centres of note in the district, respectively serving as a regional service and a regional and provincial administrative centre. The town of Vryheid is a commercial and business hub, while Ulundi Town is mainly an administrative centre and also the headquarters of the Zululand District Municipality.

It is primarily a rural district – about half the area falls under the jurisdiction of traditional authorities, while the remainder is privately owned commercial farms or protected areas where mining and roundwood plantations dominate.

MAYOR APPRECIATES NET99!

“We are very appreciate of what Net Nine Nine has brought to our lives,” said the Mayor.

“Your consideration of us is of paramount importance, and to see you also sponsoring some of our teams was very brilliant. Seeing you attend here also was just icing on top of the cake. Please come next year and we would like to make agreements and partner with you moving forward.

“The people are very happy. In fact, we want to expend Net Nine Nine’s connection and rolling out of infrastructure to other townships like Sasco, Lakeside, and many others. You’ve done a brilliant work.”

During the Mayoral Cup, men’s senior teams wore Net Nine Nine sponsored jersey in the final, and the mayor said he would like to see more.

“These games are important for us,” Khumalo added.

“It incorporates all five municipalities under Zululand. This is just preparation for the SALGA Games in December to compete with other districts across South Africa. We are preparing to fight for the provincial trophy at this stage.

CELEBRATIONS GALORE!

“This is why we are here. In fact, these games have been in existence since 2002 known as the Kwanologa Games. But after the abolishment of Kwanologa, amalgamated units now known as SALGA, then we have been part of it.”

He said they walked away with bronze medal last year from South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Games. But we had four sporting codes last year, and now we are complete to meet the criteria of all codes. Our wish, like anybody else, would like to win everything, with the support from Net Nine Nine.

Mkhwanazi gave the telecoms company his thumbs up: “Abaqulusi Municipality welcomes you with open arms. I am also going to sign up. This is what our people want to better their lives.”
