Transforming South Africa

A Transformation

Net Nine Nine CEO Albert Oosthuysen has big plans for South Africa's internet connectivity.

Connecting to You

Net Nine Nine is a leading South African FNO and ISP that leverages an innovative business model to deliver tangible change in under served communities using fibre Internet.

Since starting exclusively in the Kagiso township, Net Nine Nine has expanded rapidly and now offers fibre Internet across eight of South Africa’s nine provinces.

Working Together

The key to Net Nine Nine’s success is integrating each community it serves into its core business processes.

Net Nine Nine first meets with community leaders to get a comprehensive understanding of the people’s needs, as well as to learn which community members should be hired to facilitate key fibre services in the area.

Making a difference

These community members perform tasks like running the local Net Nine Nine shop and providing customer support to those around them.

“We find that people know what fibre is, but many are not aware that they could also participate in helping to connect their communities beyond the physical labor,” said Net Nine Nine Chief of Staff Nicholas Thipe

“We are changing lives and giving community members skills they never thought they could have – all while giving communities critical access to affordable connectivity.”

A Better Future

At the heart of Net Nine Nine’s vision is a strong focus on enabling the 4IR to reach South Africa’s most underserved areas.

“In South Africa at the moment, some children will matriculate without knowing anything about computers,” said Thipe.

“We believe that equipping young South Africans with digital skills and Internet access at a young age is critical to growing South Africa’s economy.”

Thipe noted that many other projects have been launched to give young South Africans the necessary digital tools to thrive, but they have failed due to their lack of integration into the community.

One with the Community

In contrast, Net Nine Nine becomes an active part of each community it operates in – as an employer, a partner, and a member.

Alongside providing fibre Internet access, Net Nine Nine hosts social activities like football competitions – encouraging children to live an active and healthy life.

Net Nine Nine is ready to work with the South African and provincial governments to accelerate the digital growth of South Africa’s under served communities.

Opportunities Ahead

“We’re a great partner for the government, because we don’t only have a vision – we also execute,” said Thipe.

“We have a track record of success, and continue to expand our network exponentially.”
